Our Research and development is focussed on the improvement of new varieties and the development of new fruit genetic material in order to offer these to the market.
The main focus of David del Curto’s Research and Development Program is to purchase and multiply genetic material. For this purpose we have our own nursery located in the VI region named “Copequen”. We also count with a technician who is up to date on what is new and on offer around the world, in order to contact geneticists or breeders who possess these selected products to check if they fulfil our commercial strategy to try to get agreements, in order to make this variety available in Chile.
This process is slow because in order to import genetic material, Chile has strict sanitary regulatory laws managed by SAG. They demand a number of certificates from the native country of the variety and also are the entity that keeps the varieties under quarantine for some time before accepting each request.
